Five months have drifted by since my Nikon D40x was stolen from the trunk of my car. Every so often, I go to Amazon.com to check prices. After thinking about it a little, I’ve decided to jump on a Nikon D300s with an 18-200mm VR II lens, when the price (and time) is right.
I looked really hard at the newest and greatest D7000. It seems like a nice camera, somewhere between the D90 and the D300s, leaning a little more towards the D300s.
After lots of comparing and consideration, though, I’ve decided on the D300s. I like the external controls which are lacking on the D90 and I don’t need the video or extra megapixels the D7000 offers. I could probably get a really good deal on a D90, but as long as I can get a D300s for under $2000, it’s worth the extra money - just to have what I want… even it’s a little more than what I need. The prices have dropped on average between 20 and 25%.
So, there - Ken Rockwell. I respect your opinion - a lot. But I’m going for the D300s :-)
