Pic Controls

For Nikon D40x picture controls, go to the shooting menu and then the optimize-image sub-menu. The choices include:

• Normal
• Softer
• Vivid
• More Vivid
• Portrait
• Black-and-white
• Custom

The last option - Custom - provides the following choices:

• Image sharpening
• Tone compensation
• Color mode
• Saturation
• Hue adjustment
